All of NAVGAP's services are available at no charge to the user.

Why?

Because, like many other VGAP players, I want to give to the VGAP community something in return for the pleasure I get from playing VGAP. It is only with people who want to host games, that players get to participate in many varied games with many varied people.

Naturally, I put quite a few hours into NAVGAP every week, programming features to update information, fixing errors, and answering mail, etc. I enjoy doing this, however, and treat it as a fun hobby and a service to the VGAP community.
Especially those who used the original NAVGAP.

Also, since I don't except any money for NAVGAP, I don't have any obligation to do such-and-such for so-and-so. I generally will add requested features, but I don't have to give someone with money priority over someone without money. In my opinion, this is a much nicer state of affairs for everyone.

Finally, should I ever decide to stop running NAVGAP I don't have to worry about giving refunds. I don't plan to shutdown in the near or distant future, unless people decide to not want to play on this hosting service).

Aren't there any costs?

Yes.
Everything has a cost.
NAVGAP runs on one of my computers, in a back room of my house.
My Internet connection is not free (Telephone line rental, call costs, ISP access fees - paid by the month). But, I'm paying them to use the Internet, so NAVGAP is an incremental cost.

Therefore, I'm not overly concerned about the cost of running NAVGAP.

However, I have had requests from some users asking if they may help contribute to the running of NAVGAP, in the form of a small donation.
I have therefore provide an email auto-command, that will send a user an email reply on how to donate money to NAVGAP.

What do you get out of NAVGAP?

I originally started playing on the original NAVGAP as it was a fantastic automated hosting service run by a dedicated host. When that site had to cease hosting, and no one else wanted/could take over the original NAVGAP, I decided to set about restoring a site that emulated the features of the original NAVGAP so as to get the original NAVGAP hosted games back running again. Some of the original NAVGAP services, such as the Bio pages for every player, Host and file advertising sections and an online Web Conference area are not being supported. NAVGAPlite was born and operated until 20th August 2001. From 20th August 2001, NAVGAPlite was re-named NAVGAP after Steve Simms told me he thought the hosting service was equal to the original NAVGAP and there was nothing 'lite' about the hosting service.

I will continue to run NAVGAP free of charge for these reasons. There is no need to worry that I will suddenly start running adverts or charging you money to continue using its services.

In Conclusion

So, if you're not already a member of NAVGAP, why not join today and play?
