Changes your ally status with other races in your game.
(Sends your RST file to another player in your game or stops sending your RST file to another player in your game)
Procedure:
- Create an E-Mail message and address it to navgap@navgap.com.
- Enter NAVGAP ally [acct#] [pass] [game#] [race#] [action][ally#][p or n] as the subject line.
- Replace [acct#] with your NAVGAP Account Number.
- Replace [pass] with your NAVGAP Password.
- Replace [game#] with the NAVGAP Game Number.
- Replace [race#] with your Race Number.
- Replace [action] with one of the following:
- to cancel an alliance.
+ to set up or confirm a Two-Way alliance.
= to establish a One-Way alliance.- Replace [ally#] with the Race Number of your ally.
- Replace [p or n] with one of the following:
p to set the ally password function to display your RST password to your ally.
n to set the ally password function to remove your RST password for your ally.
- Send the message.
Notes:
- When an alliance is active, every Turn, your RST will be sent to the player you specify.
NAVGAP will add your RST file to the other player's G???P?.ZIP file during host run.- The 'p' or 'n' function only apply to Two-Way alliances.
- You may have as many allies as you want.
The command "NAVGAP ally" now gives players the option to have RST file sharing set such that RST files will only be sent to an ally, if that ally has also set you as their ally.
(A Two-Way alliance). This will help you avoid being tricked in to giving your RST file and not get one from the supposed ally.To set a NAVGAP ally, you have 2 ways to do that.
The traditional alliance, where your RST file is sent to the ally, regardless of whether they set you as an ally or not. To set this type of One Way alliance, you send the command with the ally race set as an equals.
Example: Your race is race 2 and you want to ally with race 9 in game 44, using a One Way alliance need to send: NAVGAP ally [your ID] [your PWD] 44 2 =9The Two-Way alliance, where your RST file is sent to the ally, only after they set you as an ally. Their RST file will be sent to you. To set this type of alliance, you send the command with the ally race set as a plus.Example: Your race is race 2 and you want to ally with race 9 in game 44, using a Two Way You alliance need to send: NAVGAP ally [your ID] [your PWD] 44 2 +9 This just sets up the first part of the alliance (no RST file will be sent). The ally will be sent an email saying you have requested a Two-Way alliance. The ally will be required to send an ally command: NAVGAP ally [their ID] [their PWD] 44 9 +2 to complete the process. To stop your RST file being sent to an ally, you must send the ally command with the ally race shown as a minus.Example: Your race is race 2 and the ally is race 9 in game 44 To end the alliance, you need to send: NAVGAP ally [your ID] [your PWD] 44 2 -9Note:
Should either race cancel a Two-Way alliance, both race's RST files are stopped from being sent to the other race.
When you have a Two-Way alliance, you may select if your shared RST file is to be sent to your ally with its RST Password removed or your RST password extracted and shown to your ally.
This change to the ally command will allow you to use the inbuilt password protection and not need to worry about blocking your ally's access to your RST file.
The default setting for the ally command is to have the ally sent the RST file password. (This preserves the security that the player who owns the RST file has decided to use)
The Two-Way alliance password function is set using either a "p" or a "n" placed immediately after the ally race number.
A "p" tells NAVGAP that, if your RST file has a password, that password will be read and shown in the rst email sent to your ally.
A "n" tells NAVGAP that, if your RST file has a password, that password will be removed from the RST file that is sent to your ally. (the Password is not removed from your copy of your RST file, only from the copy of your RST file that is sent to your Two-Way ally)
You may set the ally RST password function at the time you initially set the Two-Way Alliance or at any time when the Two-Way alliance is active. Also you may alter your RST password setting at any time when you have requested or set a Two-Way alliance.
If you do not have a password applied to your RST file, you do not need to worry about the ally password function.
However, if during the time that the Two-Way alliance is active, if either ally decides to place a password in their RST file, if the ally command has not been told how to deal with passwords, it will automatically read the RST password and show that password to the Two-Way ally.
Example: Your race is race 2 and you want to ally with race 9 in game 44, using a Two-Way alliance with your RST password shown to your ally. You need to send: NAVGAP ally [your ID] [your PWD] 44 2 +9p Your race is race 9 and you want to ally with race 2 in game 44, using a Two-Way alliance with your RST password removed from the RST file that is sent to your ally. You need to send: NAVGAP ally [your ID] [your PWD] 44 9 +2n Your race is race 2 and you have a Two-Way Alliance with race 9 in game 44, set with your RST password shown to your Two-Way ally, and you want it removed from the RST file that is sent to your ally. You need to send: NAVGAP ally [your ID] [your PWD] 44 2 +9nIn your RST email and ally reply email, two markers are added next to the ally information to show you the type of alliance. the markers are: =>> and <+>
The =>> marker means the alliance is a one way alliance. The <+> marker means the alliance is a Two Way alliance.
For all "ally" command actions, an email is sent to the ally, informing them of a change.
