Objects of Journey

In this highly techno~computer digitized society we now utilize photoimaging devices that ensure total control and speed of image production.

But where does this control lie?
With the photographer or within the technology we rely on?
Could we now have relinquished the freedom of individual expression in the rush to improve efficiency and quality of the end product.

It was through a rediscovery of the old techniques; hand applied emulsions and simple equipment that I have regained my sense of artistic play and anticipation for the developing image.

These images were produced using a simple box with a pinhole to collect the image forming light onto 4in x5in polaroid film.

They are representations of the souvenirs gathered from many of lifes journeys. These well traveled fragments from various environments encountered form part of a collection that is carried from place to place. They are part of an individual vision and as with the art produced they are for me representations of the natural environment. Each fragment is imbued with natures innate source of undefined energy enabling revitalization of both the human spirit and its artistic inspiration.
