Profile: Janette Stuart
Vocals, Lyrics, Melodies, Production.
Born in Melbourne, Australia of German parents; she was often
in trouble at primary school for
"talking too much!" When she got to highschool, she found an outlet
for this excessive need to communicate - in music and theatre!
Six years was spent working in the Advertising industry while pursuing gigs
with various pub bands and amateur theatre; before leaving the security
of a 'day gig'
and embarking on a three-month adventure ... singing in Japan!
Upon her return to Australia, she secured her place in the now world-renown
ABBA
spoof "Bjorn Again" - where she spent almost 7 years performing
around 1,200 shows
in about 30 countries and achieving a UK Top 20 Hit!
(effectively singing "Dancing Queen" over 3,000 times!!!!)
It was here that she met Gavin, and they developed their interest in and
knowledge of
songwriting, structure, melody, performance, music technology and recording.
"As a lyricist, I've been inspired by Sting's earlier material - his ability to marry
words and music,
and his knack of offering a multi-level meaning to the song's message.
(I'm also a sucker for a walking bass-line!)
Music as varied as Perez Prado, Angelique Kidjo, Alanis Morrisette and The
Prodigy
have also rekindled my creative juices!"
Both Janette & Gavin enjoy the autonomy they have with Tectonic,
producing their own music as well as music videos ...
doing everything from shooting and compiling elements for computer animation,
to editing and directing the entire concept.
When not being musical, Janette loves rollerblading, bodyboarding, vegetarian/vegan
cooking,
movies, cycling and hanging with close mates.
