Pennington Speed Equipment have been supplying 1st class short track racing equipment world wide for thirty four years and during this time Denis Pennington has called upon his expertise both as competitor and manufacturer to recognise the demand for faster and more streamlined equipment.An integral part of Pennington Speed Equipment is the focus on research and development to offer skaters every opportunity to enhance their racing performance. Pennington Speed Equipment was the first to pioneer the single piece Aluminium Skate tube in 1986 after recognising that the steel tube was not strong enough. The first offcentre alloy blade Excalibur 11 on the market was introduced by us in 1991 providing a world wide success. In 1993 Mark Gagnon and Nathalie Lambert were the first of many World Champions using these new blades. In 1992 Pennington Speed Equipment developed and introduced the pre-curved bi metal blade, where the hard section of the blade was formed to follow the rocker. The Blackhawk 303 and Titan 005 jigs were the first of their kind to be produced using a Square steel centre tube to hold the alignment between the ends. The extra feature of the five point of contact design in the Blackhawk 303, allows the blade to be adjusted within a thousandth of an inch to gain unsurpassed blade control. Both Models hold a pinnacle position within the short track world.

Why wouldn't you want a blade made bent? A recent introduction is the factory made PRO-BENT option. Over the years we had many requests from skaters and coaches alike, or the supply of a factory manufactured bent blade. A blade that would be formed in a curve while being made, so there was less stress for the blades when they were fine tuned for individual requirements. By laminating the blades with a curve in them they became structurally stronger and would maintain their bend better. This is now a reality. Pennington blades can supply any of our models as a PRO-BENT blade option.

Skaters have individual needs! Every component that makes up the Pennington blade is custom made and assembled in our factory by our qualified engineering staff. We began producing racing equipment in 1965 and have continued to develop and design our range of products in consultation with world class coaches and skaters. Our products started with Blackhawk & Titan Jigs and then the World famous Excalibur 11 and Avenger blade. Over the years we have added to our range many new products including the Katana blade which proved a great success with the difficult art of bending. As a custom manufacturer we supply our blade range to include different blade materials to cover the varied requirement of our customers. Excalibur and Katana blades can be supplied with a bi-metal, K190 thickness with their blades so we offer custom grinding on all blades to specific thickness. More recently the Avenger blade has been redeveloped to allow the entry level skater the opportunity to achieve a higher grade performance.
