This page details information about Scoring Method:

"The Ultimate Score"

INTRODUCTION

Back in 1996 a person by the name of Ted York, had an idea for a new way of scoring VGAP games.
He was trying to create a scoring system fair for everyone. That considered all variables possible, making the scores something the player could rely on, without a possible doubt of whether a player is 'inflating' their score by building cheap battleships & lots of fighters or not.

Jose-Luis Nunez wrote a program to run that idea and called it "The Ultimate Scores" (USCORE).

USCORE isn't a totally new scoring system. What it does is use scores from four other sources:
Tim's Internal VGA Planets Scores, VGA Scores 2.2, PTScore 1.3b and Tons.

WHAT ARE THE SCORES LIKE?

USCORE reads information from the following files: SCORE.LOG, VGASCORE.BLT, PTSCORE.LOG and TONS.LOG. (These are normally kept by the Host (but could be sent to the players)).

USCORE reads those files and makes the following addition:

TOTAL = SCORE + VGASCORE + TONS + (PTSCORE/100)

This is made for each player and then sorted.
The result is something like this:

	******************* Game_Name ********************

                           08/28/96

                           Turn 34

 Uscore v1.03 454 99 329 171
As far as I can tell, the orginal USCORE (v1.00) was further developed to version v1.03.
It was distributed as Shareware and when registered gave the following features:
I've attempted to contact the author of the program. but failed to get any response, so I could not obtain a registered version. :-(
As I like the concept of USCORE, I've copied idea and modified it to suit NAVGAP usage.
