Whenever something is changed on NAVGAP, or when its operator has an important message, a notice is added to NAVGAP's records. Because of the variety of services NAVGAP offers, most of these notices won't apply to everyone. Therefore, whenever NAVGAP checks to see if a user has new notices, it also checks to see if any of these new notices apply to this person.
New notices are sent by way of the NAVGAP Newsletter. Your account is checked once per week for new notices. If any are found, a message is created containing these notices and some basic information for getting in contact with NAVGAP.
- NAVGAP checks each account once per week for new notices. To find the day NAVGAP checks your account for new notices, follow these instructions:
- Add the number of a weekday to your account number (ex. Sunday would be 1, Monday would be 2, Saturday would be 7).
- Divide this number by 7.
- If the result is a whole number (ie. there is no fraction), your account will be checked for new notices on this day.
- To have your account checked for notices on a daily basis instead of weekly, send the NAVGAP dailynews command.
- To return to a weekly check for notices, use the NAVGAP weeklynews command.
- To determine how often your account is currently checked for new notices, use the NAVGAP status command.
- If for some reason you do not want to receive any automated messages from NAVGAP at all, use the NAVGAP nomail command.
